Downtown Smart Rooms is a property located just a few steps from Ferrara’s Castle, designed to offer simple, comfortable, and stress-free hospitality. The seven rooms, all with shared bathrooms, have been designed to ensure maximum comfort for guests.
Simplicity, the keyword of the property
One of the main objectives of Downtown Smart Rooms is to eliminate any source of stress for guests, guaranteeing them a great experience, simplicity, and freedom during their stay. For this reason, the check-in process has been redesigned to be as smooth and hassle-free as possible. The hotel offers both traditional check-ins, with a reception open in the morning and welcoming staff ready to assist guests on arrival, and an online self-check-in system. This system allows guests to complete the check-in process before they even arrive, entering their details and having the key ready at the arrival. Check-out has also been simplified: guests can simply leave the key at the door on departure, saving valuable time.
To maintain direct and personal contact with guests, Downtown Smart Rooms has implemented a reminder and communication system via WhatsApp. This tool is used not only to manage essential communications, but also to propose discounts and promotions, thus offering an intimate and personalised service. The strategy allows the team to respond in a timely manner to frequently asked questions from guests, such as where to park or where to eat.
The challenge: increasing the occupancy by automating daily operations
Downtown Smart Rooms was looking for a solution dedicated to small hotels that would help them to simplify and improve various operations, thus facilitating business growth. Little Hotelier is the all-in-one hotel management software dedicated to small businesses, ensuring their presence on the channels most visited by potential guests and the possibility of direct bookings on the site, thus reducing commissions. With Little Hotelier, channels are updated automatically, allowing hotels to easily manage administrative functions, even through mobile apps, for greater flexibility. The venue chose Little Hotelier to support all its operational processes. This tool has allowed them to automate many of their daily operations, reducing the risk of errors and simplifying management.
“We chose a solution that was functional in several respects. Managing a small facility is not necessarily easy. In the past, operations were carried out manually, but to achieve certain occupancy levels, it is essential to have software that ensures efficient management and minimises the risk of errors. Little Hotelier convinced me because of its simplicity, especially in the front desk interface, and its ability to integrate with all the necessary functions”, says Marco Po, owner of Downtown Smart Rooms.
The implementation of Little Hotelier has led to concrete and significant results. In the first six months of use, the property recorded 80 direct bookings, generating revenues without commissions. This allowed Downtown Smart Rooms to increase its profits and further improve customer loyalty, thanks to a fast and smooth service.
The website: not just a booking tool, but a window on the city
Another important aspect for Downtown Smart Rooms in implementing Little Hotelier was the ability to customise their own website and use it as a platform to promote local events or city attractions. Little Hotelier’s features of Little Hotelier also include the ability for small hoteliers to create a professional website, through templates for basic websites or a custom solution for advanced design. “Often, hoteliers think mainly about providing a bed to sleep in, but a hotel can also be a means of promoting the city itself. If customers are happy, they are more likely to return, especially if they are informed about local events that might interest them”, continues Marco Po.
Managing operations everywhere via the app
“The Little Hotelier app is extremely useful because it allows you to monitor everything that happens in real time, directly from your mobile phone. In my opinion, this is essential for a small hotel. In addition, the app offers other advantages, such as the ability to make changes or updates on the go, wherever I am, ensuring more flexible and responsive management”, concludes Marco Po.

“I have found the app to be essential, especially the front desk/calendar view. It is crucial and helps me all the time.”
